It’s Derby Time!

Canary Derby cars are built by corporate or private teams and are unpowered, relying completely upon gravity. We provide a guideline for the construction of cars, then you build and race them! Each team pledges and raises money — all to support cancer early detection.

The sixth annual Canary Derby once again brings together the technology and business communities of Victoria, Canary Foundation of Canada, and BC Cancer Foundation to help support early detection cancer research.

Canary Project

The goal of the Canary Project is to develop new blood and imaging tests that will allow doctors to find cancers at the earliest possible stage, eliminating the suffering associated with advanced cancers. In particular, the Canary Project is focusing on cancers of the ovary, prostate, lung and pancreas. There is one simple fact about cancer that is often overlooked: most cancers can be cured using today’s treatments if tumors are detected at an early stage, before they start to spread throughout the body.
