Judging Details

1)   Speed (25 points)

2)   Obstacle (25 points; must complete obstacles)

3)   Spirit & Style (25 points; see below)

4)   Fundraising/Company Participation (25 points)

Point allocation for 1) Speed, 2) Obstacle and 4) Fundraising will be:

  • 1st place: 25 points
  • 2nd place: 22.5 points
  • 3rd place: 20 points
  • 4th place: 17.5 points
  • 5th place: 15 points
  • 6th place or later: 10 points (must complete the race)

Judging for 3) Spirit & Style will be based on a 25-point system using the following criteria:

  1. Creativity in Car Design (10 points)
    Cars will be judged in the creativity of the components, features, design, paint schemes, etc.
  2. Team Spirit/Enthusiasm (10 points)
    Teams will be judged on the number of team members who come to watch the races, their attire, enthusiasm, etc.
  3. Crowd Response (5 points)
    Judges will evaluate the crowd’s response to the car during each run and will assess points based on the number of people cheering and the volume of cheering. Cars will be judged by a panel of “VIP Canaries” located at the inside of the turn on the racecourse. Each car will receive two practice races and one individual race. The individual race will be judged for points – the practice races will not. The two cars with the highest scores will be entered into Canary Style Finals in which they will race side-by-side. In the event more than two cars tie for the top score, a best of three ’round robin’ match of Rochambo will be used to determine the qualifiers. The rules will be in accordance with the World RPS Society and will be judged by the Race Director.

Two Categories for the RC Race:

1)   Speed (15 points)

2)   Style/Participation (10 points)

Point allocation for 1) Speed will be distributed as:

  • 1st place: 15 points
  • 2nd place: 13.5 points
  • 3rd place: 12 points
  • 4th place: 10.5 points
  • 5th place: 9 points
  • 6th place or later: 5 points (must complete the race)

Judging for 2) Style/Participation will be based on a 10-point system using the following criteria:

  1. Team Spirit/Enthusiasm (5 points)
    Teams will be judged on the number of team members who come to watch the races, their attire, enthusiasm, etc.
  2. Crowd Response (5 points)
    Judges will evaluate the crowd’s response to the car during the race and will assess points based on the number of people cheering and the volume of cheering.
